Our Vision is to embrace everyone through deep meaningful connections to grow closer to God and transform lives.
SSUMC’s CORE VALUES
- Radical Inclusivity: We seek to embrace persons of any age, sex, gender identity, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, economic condition, and physical or mental ability as full participants in a loving community.
- Justice Focused Outreach:We seek to engage in the work of justice by feeding the hungry, clothing the poor, housing the homeless, visiting the sick and imprisoned, welcoming the stranger, giving voice to the voiceless, caring for the marginalized, and being good stewards of the environment, so that God’s reign might be realized in our local, national, and global communities.
- God Centered Family:We seek to empower one another through transformational worship, continual learning, and meaningful fellowship in order to create a safe place of grace and compassion in which we might build an intergenerational Christian family and grow closer to God.
As a Reconciling Congregation since 1995, and as a church that lives progressive Christianity, we are committed to including everyone in the life of the church. This is a safe place to be yourself. What we say to each new member holds true for each person who joins us for a season, for a lifetime, or somewhere in between: We promise to share with you our experience of faith and ask that you share yourself with us. We do not presume to tell you what you must believe, for ours is a community of free inquiry and searching. In this way we shall learn from one another, grow stronger, and more often be faithful to God as servants to all people.
