Facilities Manager
Position: Facilities Manager
Hours: est. 10-15 hours per week on average
Pay: $25 per hour Term: Year-round; 6-month trial period
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain the physical systems of the church building, including HVAC, domestic hot water, plumbing, electrical, fire prevention and security systems, and the two kitchens and associated equipment.
- Execute general repairs and improvements in church facility and two parsonages, from minor to complex projects. These may include (but are not limited to) window/door replacement, door hardware replacement, painting, dry walling, basic plumbing (toilet, sink, faucet repair), basic electrical (switch replacement, light fixture repair), basic carpentry, and preventive maintenance.
- When necessary repairs cannot be done in-house and professional/commercial resources are required, hire and supervise outside vendors from a list of approved vendors to complete repairs, or consult with Trustees if there are repair or cost alternatives.
- Conduct all required routine inspections for heating, fire, security and other building systems.
- Respond to off-hours phone calls for emergency maintenance needs.
- Maintain and inventory all SSUMC tools and equipment.
- In consultation with Trustees, manage outside contractors/vendors, including plumbing, electrical, security, custodial, mowing, grounds clean-up and seasonal snow removal.
- Assist Trustees and/or Facilities Committee in development of capital improvement plans.
- Provide written report monthly to the Trustees of summarized maintenance activities conducted and planned/proposed.
- Coordinate with Office Manager and Pastors to address building use facility needs.
Working Conditions
- Environmental: Tasks may be performed under physically disagreeable working conditions including; working outside in inclement weather, exposure to water, dust, dirt, grease, chemicals, and use of mechanical equipment.
- Physical: Many tasks require frequent lifting/ carrying objects weighing 25lbs-occasionally 100lbs (weight exceeding 75lbs lifting with assistance). Also, many tasks may require bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, climbing.
Required Skills
- As a representative of SSUMC, will embrace the values of the church in all interactions with staff, members, and users of the facility.
- Minimum 5 years related work experience.
- Intermediate to advance knowledge of materials, tools, methods, and equipment used in a building trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, work safety procedures, and general repair methods.
- Outstanding team player—positive attitude in performance of all duties and in all communication with staff and members, form and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Strong work ethic—honesty, integrity, works independently, follows written and oral instructions, asks for help when needed, identifies issues before they become problems.
