Please read Psalm 119: 1-8 and Deuteronomy 30: 15-20 and use these notes to prepare for Sunday morning worship.

Sermon Focus: New Year, Same Promises: Freedom

Key Verse: “I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous ordinances.” (Psalm 119:7)  What does it mean to you to have an upright heart?  How do the righteous ordinances of God influence the desires of your heart?

Key Verse: “ I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, loving the LORD your God, obeying him, and holding fast to him; for that means life to you and length of days, so that you may live in the land that the LORD swore to give to your ancestors, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.” (Deuteronomy 30:19 & 20)  In what ways do you choose life and blessing?  Can you see how it could make a life-altering difference to choose blessing, even in the midst of uncertain times?

When we choose life and blessing, our lives speak to others about how God influences our hearts. Facebook is a perfect example of choosing blessing instead of cursing. It is not that we all must agree but you can disagree in a way that does not tear down another in the name of being right. May we all make good chooses when seeking to follow God with our whole heart.
