Sermon Focus: A Vision for Radical Inclusivity

Our Core Value; Radical Inclusivity

We seek to embrace persons of any age, sex, gender identity, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, economic condition, and physical or mental ability as full participants in loving community.

  • How does this core value reflect the passage from Romans 12? What does it mean when we claim this as a core value of SSUMC?
  • In what ways do you see radical inclusivity in our church and in the community? How might we seek to be more radically inclusive?

“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” —Maya Angelou

“It takes no compromise to give people their rights…it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.” —Harvey Milk

“I speak not for myself but for those without voice… those who have fought for their rights… their right to live in peace, their right to be treated with dignity, their right to equality of opportunity, their right to be educated.” —Malala Yousafzai
