Please read 1 Kings 3:1-13 and use these notes to prepare for the sermon.

Sermon Focus: Stewardship-  Wisdom

Happy are those who find wisdom and those who gain understanding.  Her profit is better than silver and her gain better than gold.  (Proverbs 3: 13-14)

  • King Solomon asks for wisdom when offered anything in the world. What would you ask for?
  • Why do you think God is pleased by Solomon’s request?
  • How could wisdom impact your life?
  • Proverbs teaches that wisdom is more valuable that gold or silver. Do you agree or disagree? Why?

Thoughts for Today:

When posed with the question, What do you want, King Solomon responded with wisdom.  God answers by giving Solomon true wisdom. True wisdom guides us into personal and spiritual maturity that is not of our own making. It goes beyond the accumulation of knowledge and instead guides us to use that knowledge in ways that are just, good, and in harmony with God’s life giving purpose. –James Harnish (adapted)
