Please read John 1:43-51 to prepare for Sunday morning worship.
Sermon Focus: “Come and See”
Key Verse: “Nathaniel replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.”(John 1: 49-50)
- At the beginning of this passage, Jesus is inviting the disciples to come and follow him. As this New Year begins, where will your journey with Jesus lead you?
- And if we dare to follow Jesus what greater things can we possibly see?
Jesus has just risen from the baptismal waters and begins his ministry by gathering a team of unlikely candidates with him to do the work of building God’s kin-dom. These first followers leave the comfort of all they have known to be a part of this new thing that was happening. What is the new thing that Jesus is calling you to be a part of? A new devotional practice, just focused ministry, volunteering for Code Blue … there are endless possibilities! May you have the courage to come and see!
